With its sleek, slender body and powerful legs, it can reach speeds of up to 60-70 miles per hour in short bursts. This incredible velocity helps the cheetah hunt its prey with precision and agility. Did you know Cheetahs are classified as "vulnerable" on The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species? This means they face a significant risk of extinction in the wild. Their survival is threatened by habitat loss, prey reduction, illegal trade, human conflict, and low levels of genetic variation. I once had the incredible opportunity to hug a cheetah at the Nairobi Orphanage. To my surprise, her fur was thick and coarse, and she was purring like a cat! Despite being so close that I feared she might rip off my face, she was actually very friendly and gentle. In Nairobi, we have an animal orphanage where vulnerable animals are kept safe. Now is no longer possible to get too touch wild animals. I strongly discourage anyone from having a wild animal as a pet or touching them in the wild. Let’s appreciate and respect wild animals by observing them in their natural habitat, doing what they do best: being wild. 🐆🌍
