Dik-Dik: Small Enough to Disappear, Loud Enough to Be Heard

Say hello to the Dik-Dik, the newest member of the Ukulele Safari family and, officially, the smallest instrument in the whole collection. Named after the pint-sized African antelope that stands barely 40 centimeters tall, this ukulele takes its inspiration seriously, right down to the personality.

In the wild, the dik-dik is one of the smallest antelopes on Earth, yet when danger approaches it lets out a surprisingly loud, sharp “zik-zik” call that echoes across the savanna. It’s this wonderful contrast that inspired the instrument: incredibly compact, yet full of life and impossible to ignore.

The Dik-Dik ukulele is light enough to carry everywhere, slipping easily into a backpack, a day bag or the overhead compartment on your next adventure. But the moment you strum it, it reveals a bright, warm and resonant voice that feels far bigger than its size.

Master luthier Paolo Bianchi carefully refined the bracing and soundboard to create an instrument with remarkable projection, clarity and balance. The result is a ukulele that is fun to play, easy to travel with and full of personality.

Built for Adventure

Just like its wild namesake, the Dik-Dik is designed for people who love to explore.

  • Travel light: the Dik-Dik ukulele is the easiest instrument in the collection to bring absolutely everywhere: campsites, coffee shops, cross-continental flights, the back of a tuk-tuk.
  • Handcrafted with care: Dik-diks are known for their oversized, alert eyes, always watching. Paolo brings that same watchfulness to the bench: every Dik-Dik ukulele is hand-shaped, hand-sanded, and individually voiced before it ever leaves the workshop in Italy.
  • A unique voice: Wild dik-diks mark their territory with a scent gland near the eye, leaving a signature wherever they go. This ukulele leaves its own signature too, a warm, distinctive tone that’s unmistakably its own the moment you hear it.
  • Made to stay with you: Dik-diks are known for forming lifelong pairs. We think you’ll feel the same way about this little ukulele.
