Lions are apex predators, second in size only to t Lions are apex predators, second in size only to the tiger (not found in Africa...). They hunt a wide range of prey but Their primary targets are medium to large-sized hoofed animals like wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes. While lionesses in open savannas typically do most of the hunting, Males are also skilled hunters, especially in scrub or wooded areas, and nomadic males hunt for themselves.
